About This Statistic

This statistic measures the percentage of managerial jobs held by women, based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08) group 1 (“Managers”). It captures women’s representation in formal leadership roles across the economy and is widely used to track progress on workplace gender equality and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

The ILO publishes harmonized and modeled estimates to improve comparability across countries and years, drawing on labor force surveys and other official household/establishment sources. While definitions are standardized, country differences in labor-market structure, informality, and survey coverage can still affect comparability—so this indicator is best read as a high-level benchmark rather than a precise measure of corporate leadership (e.g., CEOs or board seats).
