This statistic shows how much of a country’s total energy supply (all fuels used across the economy) comes specifically from geothermal sources, expressed as a percentage. Geothermal is often overlooked compared with wind and solar, but in a handful of volcanic or tectonically active countries it can provide a surprisingly large slice of national energy—especially for electricity and district heating.

Values are derived from the International Energy Agency (IEA) energy balances, which track total energy supply by source. The measure is useful for highlighting where geography (heat resources) and long-term infrastructure investment translate into a stable, low-carbon, weather-independent energy contribution.
