Share of electricity generated from nuclear power (% of total electricity production)

This statistic measures the percentage of a country’s total electricity generation that comes from nuclear power plants. It highlights how central nuclear energy is in different national power mixes—ranging from countries with no nuclear generation at all to countries where nuclear provides a large fraction of electricity.

The values come from the International Energy Agency’s country electricity generation breakdowns. Because the measure is a *share*, it is influenced both by nuclear output and by how much electricity is produced from other sources (coal, gas, hydro, wind, solar, etc.). It’s best used to compare energy-mix structure across countries (and over time), rather than absolute nuclear generation volumes.
