About This Statistic

Personal remittances received measure personal transfers and compensation of employees coming into an economy, expressed as a percentage of that economy's GDP. This makes the values comparable across economies of very different sizes, but it does not measure the absolute amount of money received.

The World Bank series uses IMF balance-of-payments data as its primary input, supplemented by World Bank estimates and national sources where needed; the GDP denominator comes from World Bank and OECD national-accounts estimates. This run imported only non-null observations explicitly returned for 2024 and did not estimate or fill any country value.

Methodology

World Bank indicator BX.TRF.PWKR.DT.GD.ZS. Personal remittances comprise personal transfers plus compensation of employees under IMF BPM6 concepts, divided by GDP and multiplied by 100. The World Bank identifies IMF balance-of-payments data as the primary source and supplements it with World Bank estimates and national sources; the GDP denominator uses World Bank and OECD estimates. This import retains only non-null 2024 observations for non-aggregate economies that map to ISO 3166-1 numeric codes. No values were estimated, carried forward, mixed across years, or filled by this run.
