About This Statistic

Insurance and financial services include insurance exchanged between resident and nonresident enterprises plus financial intermediation and auxiliary services other than those of insurers and pension funds. The indicator divides these imports by total service imports.

As a composition share, it supports comparison across differently sized economies. It does not measure the absolute value of imported financial services.

Methodology

World Bank indicator BM.GSR.INSF.ZS from IMF Balance of Payments Statistics. Eligible insurance and financial service debits are divided by total service-import debits and multiplied by 100. Only non-null 2024 ISO-country observations are retained without imputation.
