About This Statistic

This indicator is the percentage of total freshwater withdrawals used for drinking water, municipal supply, public services, commercial establishments and homes. It describes the composition of withdrawals, not total water availability or household access.

Withdrawals exclude evaporation losses from storage basins and may include desalinated water where it is significant. Only records published for the common 2022 reference year are shown.

Methodology

World Bank indicator ER.H2O.FWDM.ZS from FAO AQUASTAT. Domestic withdrawals are divided by total freshwater withdrawals and multiplied by 100. The batch retains only non-null 2022 observations for ISO countries; it does not fill or carry forward missing values.
